Right from its inception in 2018, the Tailoring Academy enjoyed strong interest from candidates from around the world, wishing to learn a quintessentially British craft, bespoke tailoring. Our accreditation by the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education allows us to enrol international students onto courses of up to six months in length.
The International Programme offers two separate courses, each meeting this
requirement. Both courses are approved by the UK Fashion and Textile Association UKFT alongside our regulated Level 5 Diploma, in recognition of the same high standard of teaching.

The Curriculum
We know from countless conversations that practical skills are what our candidates look for: solid pattern construction and tailoring techniques for both the male and female figure. With this in mind, we developed a curriculum that delivers the expert skills which are highly sought after in bespoke tailoring, high-end fashion and stage/film production:
- Bespoke Pattern Construction
- Lay Planning and Cutting
- Complete Tailoring Techniques
- Bespoke Fittings
- Hand Finishing Techniques
- Quality Management
- Cost Calculation
Students learn to cut and tailor for both, the male and female figure. They complete at least two/four garments during each course. To enrich the curriculum further, visits to world-renowned West Yorkshire wool mills are organised.
